Biman Nag - Born on 16th February 1966, creates sculptures with Discarded or Waste
Medicine Foils !
He is known to be the first person in India and perhaps in the World, to use Discarded or
Waste Medicine Foils for making sculpture, which is normally thrown away after taking out
medicines. Plastic foils can take hundreds of years to break down. Aluminium & Plastic
foils pollute the earth and make soil infertile and affect our health. Biman is using the
medicine foils for making beautiful sculptures, which have been greatly appreciated by Art
lovers and Connoisseurs.
Biman started this type of work in his childhood, when he was just 12 years old, initially
with foil lids of milk bottles supplied from Haringhata in West Bengal. Later on he started
using "Discarded or Waste Medicine Foils".
He is a Mechanical Engineer and works as a Loco Pilot in the Indian Railways. He is also
a Poet and lyricist. He has to his credit, Eleven group Exhibitions in India.
He has been interviewed by more than 20 newspapers & various Electronics Media for his
Art and Sculpture.
Developing such a concept and its implementation in making beautiful shapes to finally
arrive at this extraordinary art, over the years, is amazing and it makes us believe in the
power of Man’s imagination and abilities.
