| Sketches of the Engine Room of S.S. Indian Tradition Following 4 sketches were drawn some time in the Later half of 1978. The Artist is also a Marine Engineer by profession. This was his first ship ! Drawn on board SS Indian Tradition of India Steamship Company, anchored off Goa in the west coast of India. It was laid off there before being scrapped. The Steam ships were being phased out at that time all over the world due to its low fuel economy. The LNG trade has brought Steam Ships back in business again and are much more fuel efficient these days and can be compared to Motor ships. Later on the Hollywood movie "Sea Wolves" starring Gregory Peck, Roger Moore & David Niven was filmed on this very ship! Much before that a Bengali movie named "Rakta Golap" starring Anil Chatterjee was also filmed on this Ship! |
