Sculptor Milan Sengupta
born 02.07.1957

The sculptor is self taught in the sense that he does not have any formal training from any Art College. But
thinks himself to be a very fortunate person because he got two highly distinguished Art teachers in his
school days in
Sainik School Purulia. They are Sri Phalguni Dasgupta, an eminent Artist  and Sri Gour Pada
Goswami
, a very great art teacher. Later he had the great opportunity to work with Sri Surajit Das, one of
the fore most Sculptors of India, who taught him the real Art of Sculpting. While studying in school, Bengali
language teacher,
Sri Pratul Dutta, introduced Milan to Western Classical Art & Sculpture by giving him
various books on Art from his personal collection and encouraged him to learn by sculpting from the photos in
those books.

The Sculptor served as a Sailor (marine engineer) to keep his body alive but what keeps his soul alive is what
you are seeing in this Site. His works are in Private Collectons in India and abroad including USA, UK,
Phillipines, Ausrtalia, Singapore, Portugal. The Sculptor lives with his wife Sagarika in Kolkata.
