Educated at Jadavpur and North Western Universities, sixty years old Chiranjit Chakraverty is an environmental engineer and a fellow of the Institute of Engineers (India). Held responsible positions with various government and private agencies in India, Nepal and USA. he has been a member of the Expert Committee, Environmental Impact Assesment (EIA) of Govt. of India, a fellow of the East-West Center, Honolulu, an advisor to several organisations, and was one of the pioneers of the EIA in India. His book, Environment for Everyone, was widely acclaimed. He is widely travelled, and has lived and worked in diverse fields in many parts of the world and has had intimate contacts with people in all walks of life.
